Her life and legacy

A life lovingly remembered

Norma Jane Morrison, born Norma Jane Alexander and formerly known as Norma Robinson, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at the age of 79. To her family she was lovingly known as “Nanny,” and to her many friends, simply Norma.

Born on February 23, 1947, in Concord, North Carolina, Norma was the daughter of John Richard Alexander and Sara Jane Margie Melton Alexander. She grew up in Kannapolis and graduated from South Rowan High School in 1965 before later making her home in Charlotte.

Norma loved life and the people who filled it. She enjoyed dancing, celebrating special occasions, and expressing herself through arts, crafts, and design. She was especially fond of creating personal greeting cards and writing letters for family and friends. A note from Norma was more than a message; it was a reminder that someone was thinking of you.

She shared many years with her high school sweetheart and first husband, William Joseph Robinson Jr., until his passing in 2005. Norma later married Marvin Eugene “Gene” Morrison in 2008. Their years together included time at the beach, traveling, and making memories with family and friends. Gene passed away in 2025.

Norma is lovingly remembered by her son, William J. Robinson III (“Billy”); her daughter, Angela McCoy, and her husband, Rick; and her grandchildren, Steven Freinstein, Cassidy Freinstein Glass and her husband, Adrian Glass, and Eli McCoy.

She will be remembered for the care she put into every handmade card, the joy she found in a good dance, her appreciation of life’s special moments, and most of all, her love for the people around her. The stories, letters, and memories shared by those who knew her will keep that love close.
